Caravan/Trailer modifications?
Modifications of any part of the standard original manufacturer’s equipment manufactured with or for the Caravan or Trailer including:
electric wiring, electric systems, gas or LPG equipment fitted by persons who are not professionally certified and appropriately accredited tradespeople;
tow bar, wheels, chassis and brakes of Your Caravan or Trailer or any other part that may affect or alter the manufacturer’s specifications for the safe towing of Your Caravan or Trailer taking into account Your Caravan or Trailer’s weight and dimensions.
Roadworthy
Roadworthy means Your Caravan or Trailer is in a good condition, well maintained, suitable, capable and properly equipped for use in on normal road or off-road conditions and is reasonably fit in all respects to operate safely and efficiently for its designed purpose. This means:
Your Caravan or Trailer is designed for the above conditions;
all mandatory fire and safety equipment kept in or on Your Caravan or Trailer is kept in a good condition; and
all other parts of Your Caravan or Trailer (e.g. brakes, signal lights and wheels.) are kept in a good condition, good working-order and well maintained; and
you have taken all reasonable measures to ensure that it is able to meet minimum braking standards as required by law.
Commercial Use
Commercial Use refers to any use of your caravan/trailer where it is employed as part of a business operation or for monetary gain. This includes, but is not limited to, the following scenarios:
Rental or Leasing: The caravan/trailer is rented out to others for their use.
Hiring Out: The caravan/trailer is hired out, with or without additional services, such as towing.
Business Purposes: The caravan/trailer is used as part of a business operation, such as mobile shops, services, or offices, from which the insured receives financial compensation.
Security device
A tool or system designed to prevent theft or unauthorised access to Your caravan/trailer. These devices can vary widely in functionality and complexity. Some common types of security devices for caravan or trailers include:
Wheel Clamps: These are locks that can be fitted onto the wheels of the caravan/trailer to prevent them from being moved.
Hitch Locks: These devices secure the caravan/trailer's hitch, preventing anyone from coupling the caravan/trailer to a vehicle without removing the lock first.
Door and Window Locks: Additional locks for doors and windows can be installed to enhance the security of the caravan/trailer beyond the standard locks.
Alarm Systems: These can be installed to alert owners if there is any unauthorized entry or tampering with the caravan/trailer.
Tracking Devices: In the event of a theft, a tracking device can help locate the caravan/trailer by sending its GPS coordinates to the owner or the police.
Security Posts: These are fixed or removable posts that can be installed at the parking spot. The caravan/trailer can be locked to these posts to prevent theft.
